For the first time, ICBTM will open its doors to public high school students, providing them with an unprecedented opportunity to engage directly with real-world science and advanced research.
As a core component of the congress’s scientific outreach and social impact initiatives, the satellite event “ICBTM in Schools” has been specifically developed for this young audience. The initiative allows selected students to visit the cutting-edge facilities of Fiocruz Pernambuco entirely free of charge.

Full Program Description
The initiative will enable selected students to participate free of charge in theoretical and hands-on activities and to visit the facilities of Fiocruz Pernambuco, where they will have the opportunity to interact directly with scientists, graduate students, and professionals working in health and biomedical sciences.
Throughout the program, students will take part in lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities addressing current scientific topics, presenting science in an accessible, dynamic, and engaging way while connecting it to real-world challenges facing society.

The activity will take place on the first day of ICBTM in the main auditorium of Fiocruz Pernambuco. This approach will optimize the use of the institutional facilities while strategically integrating the congress’s scientific program with its broader commitments to education, scientific outreach, and social responsibility.
More than a scientific outreach activity, ICBTM in Schools seeks to create an inspiring experience for young people from public schools, bringing together schools, universities, research institutions, and society and helping to spark interest in careers in science and healthcare. By bringing these students into Fiocruz, we want them not only to discover science, but also to see themselves as part of its future.

A iniciativa permitirá que estudantes selecionados participem gratuitamente de atividades teóricas e práticas e conheçam a estrutura da Fiocruz Pernambuco, entrando em contato direto com pesquisadores, estudantes de pós-graduação e profissionais da área da saúde e das ciências biomédicas.
Durante a programação, os alunos terão a oportunidade de participar de aulas, demonstrações e atividades práticas sobre temas científicos atuais, apresentando a ciência de forma acessível, dinâmica e conectada a problemas reais da sociedade.

A atividade será realizada no primeiro dia da ICBTM no auditório principal da Fiocruz Pernambuco. Dessa forma, a organização otimiza o uso da estrutura institucional e integra, de maneira estratégica, a programação científica do congresso às suas ações de educação, divulgação científica e responsabilidade social.
Mais do que uma atividade de divulgação, o ICBTM nas Escolas pretende criar uma experiência inspiradora para jovens da rede pública, aproximando escolas, universidades, instituições de pesquisa e sociedade e contribuindo para despertar o interesse pelas carreiras científicas e da saúde. Ao levar esses estudantes para dentro da Fiocruz, queremos que eles não apenas conheçam a ciência, mas se reconheçam como parte do futuro dela.
